Kwanzaa, Ane L. and Nerea 3.B

 Kwanzaa

It conmemorates the afroamerican herritage and culture as well. The holiday is about unity, self determination, collective work, responsability, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith.
Kwanzaa was created by Dr. Maulana Karenga of United Slaves Organisation in 1966. It's actually like an African alternative to Christmas.
People celebrate Kwanzaa from December 26th to January 1th, 7 days. It's this year celebrated betwen 2011 and 2012.
They put a kinara in their houses which is a candle holder. They also put  seven candles: 3 red color ones, a black one and another 3 green color ones. The red color represents the noble blood that unites all people of African ancestry, black for the people and green for the rich land of Africa.
The kiaras are considered good luck. There's nothing forbidden during this holiday.
The tradicional greeting for this holiday is Habari Gani which means What's new?
To conclude, let's say that Kwanzaa is like Christmas but in african culture.
